Man Threatens to Set Himself Alight in Lleida

Local police have reported that a man living in Lleida doused himself with petrol and tried to set fire to himself in front of an estate agent’s office yesterday, the estate agent allegedly owed him more than three thousand euros.
The events occurred at about 13:30 pm yesterday in Calle Sant Hilari, where the Lleida estate agent’s offices are located. The man pulled his car up directly outside of the office, where he got out of his vehicle with a bottle containing around one and a half litres of fuel in his hands. The distressed man proceeded to pour the fuel over himself and then threatened to set himself on fire.
The police were quickly alerted and arrived on the scene where they eventually managed to persuade the man to give himself up without harm. The man, aged 28 years of age was arrested as a precaution, so as not to cause harm to himself or passers-by. No charges are thought to have been pressed.
