June 30th, 2010
In a survey by webtools, social networking site Tuenti is leading the way from Facebook with 74% of young Spaniards, between the ages of 16 and 21, having an account with the social network. And, of this age group, more than half are using the service for at least 83 minutes every day.
The study also revealed other information about the behaviour of young Spanish people today, showing that 88% of them connect daily to the internet for personal use and 72% are part of more than one social network. Additionally, 98% have their own mobile phone, with virtually all respondents showing a clear preference for certain brands, manufacturers and technology when deciding on which mobile phone they had purchased. More than half of those questioned also have a credit or debit card that they use regularly.
The study, which took place during January and March this year, took into account the opinions of 2.5 million young Spanish people aged 16 to 21 years, of which 51% were male and 49% were female.
