Grand Opening of Spain’s First Apple Stores Announced

August 27th, 2010

Apple App StoreFollowing a long wait, Apple has at last scheduled grand openings for the first two Apple Stores in Spain. Launching on September 4th at 10AM is the La Maquinista outlet, situated in Barcelona. Normal operating hours are scheduled for 10AM to 10PM Monday through Saturday.

The second store is opening in the Xanadu shopping centre in Madrid on September 11th, again at 10AM. Unlike La Maquinista, the Xanadu outlet will be open all week, albeit with the same running hours. Both stores already have workshops planned for the days following their debuts.

Apple’s senior VP for retail, Ron Johnson, recently explained to a Spanish newspaper that the company had spent years looking for possible locations to open consumer stores in Spain. Only earlier in 2010 was a firm decision made, according to Johnson.

The Spanish public has been snapping up Apple products in recent times, with huge sales for their iPad and iPhone range and, during the last quarter for example, Mac sales were up 59 percent year on year. More at http://www.macnn.com
