Spain Gets Go-Ahead for First 7 Star Hotel

May 19th, 2011

The Governing Board of the Town Council of Almuñécar in Granada, has approved the granting of building permits for what will be the only 7 Star hotel in Spain. The first phase of construction of the Bahia Fenicia resort will include the 7 Star hotel and 55 residential villas.

Banyan Tree Holdings, the developer of the project, applied for the license in April, and has now received approval from the municipal officers after review and consideration. The license was authorised and signed on Wednesday, representing a determined step towards the commencement of construction of this complex, which is scheduled to open its doors in 2013.

According to Almuñécar Town Council, the hotel is expected to create 600 jobs, directly and indirectly, and is attracting other investors and tourist services. Already, one famous Art Theatre Manager from Madrid is looking to construct a “Café Teatro”, in Almuñécar’s San Cristóbal beach location, in order to stage concerts.
