Barcelona is World’s Most Admired City

Barcelona has been chosen as the most admired city in the world, according to the latest ‘Cities for Citizens’ report prepared by Ernst and Young based on surveys conducted with 72 city leaders of the world. After the Catalan city comes Copenhagen, London, Melbourne and Munich.
ABC EspaƱa states that, according to the report, Barcelona has taken advantage of the Olympic legacy for urban development and has succeeded in making in a few years, a social and economic transformation that could have taken decades to accomplish.
The leaders of the major cities of the world also appreciate that Barcelona has a consolidated global city model, is innovative and has a successful strategy for attracting international talent .
The opinion of the acting mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, also reflected in the report that “The cities of today are admired as they are places where people can live with a spirit of freedom and where people see opportunities to achieve their personal and professional aspirations.”
The Ernst and Young report was carried out through interviews with 72 leaders of cities in the world who value the city’s vision, strategy, economic and social development, sustainability, the challenges facing their cities and the way they are governed.
