August Holiday Weekend Leaves 19 Dead on Spanish Roads

A total of 19 people died on Spanish roads this past holiday weekend between 15:00 pm on Friday 12th August and midnight on Monday 15th August, in 16 traffic accidents, according to data from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).
Europa Press reported that there were 16 fatal accidents in which 19 people died, eight were severely injured and six slightly injured. Specifically, of the 16 accidents, nine were collisions, five vehicles left the road and one pedestrian was run over.
In the year-to-date up to 15th August, 902 deaths were recorded, which was 122 less than for the same period last year, representing a decrease of 11.91 percent.
The worst incident occurred in Albacete on Sunday, when three people died following the collision of two vehicles on the CM-3106, a mile from the town of Mahora in Albacete.
