Eurozone Inflation Stable in October

The rate of inflation in the eurozone in October remained at 3%, the same level as in the previous month, but well above the 1.9% recorded a year ago, according to data published by the European statistics office, Eurostat.
El Mundo reported that in the whole of the EU, prices registered a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, one-tenth above the September figure and well above the 2.3% recorded in October 2010.
Among the components included in the indicator, the highest increases were recorded in transport (5.8%), housing (5.1%) and alcohol and tobacco (4.4%), while the lowest were recorded in communications (-1.9%), leisure and culture (0.3%) and education (0.9%).
The lowest inflation rates were registered in Sweden (1.1%), Ireland (1.5%) and Malta (2.4%), while the highest were observed in the UK (5%), Estonia (4, 7%) and Slovakia (4.6%). Spain registered 3%.
