Orange España Reveals Results for 2011

Orange España registered a turnover of 3,993 million euros in 2011, which represents a 4.5% increase over the previous year, and an improvement of 9.8% in its gross operating profit (EBITDA) reaching 839 million euros.

As for commercial activity, the company closed the year with 13.7 million customers. In the mobile business, Orange added 537,000 new users, 477,000 of which were contract.

Thus, the contract customers represent over 61% of their total customer base. The company highlighted that during the last quarter they were the mobile leaders with 216,000 new customers.

According to El Mundo, Orange also gained 150,000 new ADSL sign ups last year, ending the year with 1.2 million broadband customers, up 13.5% over the previous year.

Their mobile business revenue in the past year amounted to 3,286 million euros, an increase of 4.1% over the previous year. This was mainly due to the increased customer base, the revenue from data services and from the mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) operating in the Orange network.

Regarding the fixed segment, the operator gained revenues of 707 million euros in 2011, representing an increase of 6.6% from a year earlier.
