Sales Start in Spain with up to 70% Discounts
January 8th, 2013
Department stores belonging to the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (Anged) began their seasonal sales yesterday, with discounts of up to 70% on winter clothes, coats, shoes, underwear and children’s wear.
In a statement, the Association said that discounts for other products, such as electronics, household goods and entertainment, will be between 20% and 30%, while in perfumery the savings shall be around 10%.
According to Anged, the winter sales will also be characterised by the “greater flexibility of companies to set their own discount periods, within the framework that the new rules allow”.
The “big” discounts of this season, said the Association, are in addition to the “efforts” made by these companies throughout the past year to adjust their margins, offer lower prices and respond to the changing needs of households.
As in every year, the large stores guarantee the same conditions as the rest of the season in terms of product quality, customer service and consumer care, as well as the use of the same means of payment.
Europa Press reported that the sales season lasts until 6th March and it is anticipated that during the last days the discounts could reach up to 80% and 90%.
Some of the large distribution companies within the Anged group include El Corte Ingles, Carrefour, Eroski, Media Markt, Fnac and Ikea.
